I went away, and now I am back.
I spent a week at
the Excellence El Carmen resort near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I’m still processing the experience–it was my first all-inclusive vacation, and I am really not an all-inclusive vacation sort of person–but I’m sure at some point I will have something to say it. In the meantime, some photos.
Clearly whomever addressed this envelope didn’t realize I was travelling solo, and not with my dad.
Although maybe they left two champagne glasses so that I could double-fist?
I did enjoy eavesdropping on my fellow guests.
My deck, after a rainy night.
The resort at night, from the mosquito-y rooftop bar.
I got a good chuckle out of this.
My swim-up suite really was perfection.
The Las Olas bar at twilight. Too scorchingly sunny during the day, but perfect in the evening (once the bar closed and I was all alone, lol).
A Tom Collins, made Felix-style.
Beach! (With the remnants of the previous day’s wedding.)
They don’t put a lot of booze in these silly drinks, but they are yummy. This one’s a Miami Vice.
Good spot to have a coffee and get caught up on my notes.
The martini bar.
Hanging out with my friend Antonio in the cigar lounge.
The resort at night.
One last drink for the road.
This (crashed?) decaying plane beside the Punta Cana runway isn’t a particularly inspiring sight.
